Future of Online Poker

March 11, 2007

It's hard to tell what the future of online poker will be, but many things are leading to 3D poker taking over.  Now, that may be hard to believe, but 3D poker continues to grow at a rapid rate.  Does this mean that there are becoming more and more online poker players?  Unfortunately, that is not the case.  In fact, there are becoming less and less online poker players do to recent US laws.

However, this means that many 2D poker players are now switching over to the new generation, 3D poker.  3D poker is no where near taking over 2D poker yet, but two years down the road this could be a different story.  in fact, one of the fastest growing online poker rooms is PKR, which of course is the biggest 3D poker room on the planet.

One reason that I believe 3D poker got to a slow start was that a few years ago, computers were nothing compared to what they are today.  Now that computers are extremely fast and high tech, they have no problem handling the 3D poker graphics and software, almost making them run as fast as standard 2D poker rooms.  I believe that in the year two there won't be any difference between 3D poker and 2D poker due to technology advances.

Also, not many people have heard or experienced the next generation of online poker.  Once someone has gotten used to 3D poker, it is very hard to switch back to what they have been used to for the past several years as it may seem very boring and out of date.

So, if you haven't had a chance to try 3D poker out, and I suggest you do.  I would highly suggest you try playing at room such as Pokerwize or PKR.  These are the top two 3D poker rooms as of now.
