How to Play Omaha Hi Lo

Omaha Hi-Lo will come under the category of a community card game. There will be five community cards, and they will be face up on the table and will be in the middle. The players will have four cards and they will be faced down. The players are allowed to use the community cards. This game will have a dealer button, and it is allowed to rotate between the hands in a clockwise direction.

Half the pot will be won by the one with the best high hand. The other half will be won by the person with the best low hand. Two hole cards and three board cards need to be used to get the low hand as well as the high hand. There will be specifications about the positions of the cards that will be a part of the low hand.

In case this is a tournament, players will have to put in small amounts towards the pot at the beginning of the hand. Two forced bets every hand will be known as blinds. This game will include four rounds with betting. The first two rounds will include equality to the low limit bet, and the last round will include equality to the high limit bet.

The pre flop is where the player who sits on the left of the dealer button, is asked to post a small blind. The player sitting next to him will post the big blind. Starting with the small blind, every player will be dealt with two cards face down. The player who is to the immediate left of the big blind, will decide to fold and call.

He may either call by putting in a low limit bet or a raise, putting in twice the low limit bet. The action will then continue clockwise across the table. By adding the other half of the low limit bet, the small blind will then call, as long as no one has raised. This will then be checked by the big blind, as long as no one has raised.

The second round will be the flop round, where three cards will be dealt face up. The first to act will be the player to the left of the dealer button. The play as usual is clockwise around the table. The low limit bet size should be on a level with the bets and raises. Next a fourth card will be dealt. This time the bets and raises have to be on level with the high limit bet size.

The last card will be the final card, and it will have to be played as it was in the previous rounds. This time the high limit bet size will be equal to the bets and raises. Those who have not folded after the last round, may show their hand and they may win the pot. The one who bet last has to raise first and again it moves clockwise around the table. Sometimes players may not do this, as they will not want anyone to see what they have betted.
